Pons
As you approach Pons you may be disappointed by the rather uninteresting industrial outskirts of the town however carry on into the town centre and you will be rewarded with a fascinating visit to a town full of history.
Park in the town centre near the ‘donjon’, a 12th century keep which now houses the tourist office, and explore the town on foot. The old town has tiny medieval streets (les ruelles) and imposing ramparts looking down onto the River Seugne 30 metres below.
The town is situated on the ancient route of the pilgrims to Santiago de la Compostella , centuries ago The Lord of Pons held great power in the region and the town is full of history.
